process
deposition
-
• Finally the racks, after a final washing in water and ultra-sounds, are introduced into the nickel bath, conveniently closed with lids in order to avoid exit of fumes, given the high temperature of the bath (93-97°C)
-
• Soaking time is not constant, for same requested thickness, but the speed of nickel deposition varies according to its age, conditions, surface and someone says also to its mood. This is why the plates hooked to the racks are important: after a while, we extract one, we measure it with a micrometer and we estimate the remaining time to reach the desired thickness.
-
• As thickness is reached, we extract the rack from the tank, wash it up with water and ultra-sounds to remove every residual of bath also from blind holes and finally we dry the rack.
-
• Now the pieces are removed from the racks and, after a first visual inspection and a sampling of the thickness measured with X rays, they are put on trays ready to be placed into thermic treatment ovens.
